Balochistan CM Bugti says plot to coerce girl into carrying out terrorist attack in Islamabad foiled

Quetta (Web Desk): Security forces in Balochistan have foiled a major terror plot after arresting a woman alleged to be a suicide bomber, officials said on Monday. Authorities claimed the operation prevented a potential large-scale attack targeting Islamabad.

According to initial statements, the detained woman during the investigation, revealed that she had been coerced into extremist activities under threats and psychological pressure.

She alleged that a close relative forced her into working for a banned organization by intimidating her and taking her to remote mountainous areas where she was subjected to indoctrination.

She further stated that militants threatened to kill her father if she refused to carry out a suicide attack. The woman also said her family and fiancé had tried to stop her, but continuous threats left her living in fear and distress.

Later, In a press conference alongside the suspect, Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti confirmed the arrest and said intelligence agencies had successfully averted a major terror plot through timely action.

He added that extremist groups were exploiting vulnerable individuals, particularly young women, by using coercion and intimidation tactics.

Sarfaraz Bugti emphasized that such activities had no connection with local traditions or values and were aimed solely at spreading violence and instability.

He also said the detained woman had been treated in accordance with humanitarian considerations and handed over to her family to help her reintegrate into normal life.
