Islamabad (Staff Report): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Friday appointed Khurram Dastagir as new foreign minister of Pakistan.
The position fell vacant after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) disqualified former foreign minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, on account of Article 62 (1)(f) of the constitution in a case related to his foreign permit (iqama).
Dastgir previously served as the Minister for Commerce in the third government of PML-N from 2014 to 2017.
Khan studied engineering from the California Institute of Technology and economics at Bowdoin College before being elected to National Assembly of Pakistan in 2008 general election.
