California (Web Desk): Instagram has made its algorithm personalization feature available to all users, expanding control over how content appears in the main feed.
With this update, users will see more content based on their interests, allowing the app to deliver a more personalized browsing experience.
According to Instagram head Adam Mosseri, the goal of this change is to improve user experience by showing more relevant posts and making content discovery easier.
However, the update may also result in users seeing fewer posts from accounts they follow, as the platform increasingly prioritizes interest-based recommendations in the main feed.
The feature works by allowing users to define topics and preferences, helping the algorithm tailor content more effectively.
Mosseri also acknowledged long-standing user complaints that posts do not always reach followers as expected.
He explained that while following accounts remains important, recommendation-driven content has increasingly dominated the main feed, sometimes limiting traditional follower-based visibility.
To address this, Instagram has also introduced a “Following Feed,” which allows users to view posts only from accounts they follow, offering a more traditional browsing experience.
