Security forces kill 11 terrorists in Lakki Marwat IBO: ISPR

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): At least 11 terrorists were killed by the security forces during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Lakki Marwat district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa (KP), the military’s media wing stated on Tuesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the overnight operation, which took place on June10-11, was launched in response to an improvised explosive device (IED) blast that killed seven soldiers on June 9, including Captain Muhammad Faraz Ilyas and Subedar Major Muhammad Nazir.

The statement said the Pakistan Army troops effectively targeted the militants' positions, resulting in the deaths of 11 terrorists and the destruction of multiple hideouts.

"Sanitisation of the area is being carried out to eliminate any terrorists present in the area, and perpetrators of this heinous act will be brought to justice," the ISPR said.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday lauded the security forces for killing 11 militants during an effective action against terrorists in Lakki Marwat.

In a statement, the premier said that the valiant members of Pakistan's security forces conducted a successful operation against terrorists by putting their lives at stake.

PM Shehbaz said that the security forces have always been proved as an iron wall in the war against terrorism.

“The entire nation is standing with the security forces in war against terrorism,” the premier said.

PM Shehbaz also paid tribute to martyrs and veterans of the Pakistan Army.

“We are committed for complete elimination of terrorism,” the prime minister vowed.
