Delegations arrive in Islamabad for the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women

Islamabad (Web Desk): Delegations from the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) have started reaching Islamabad to participate in the two-day 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women.

The event, set to take place on July 12 and 13, 2026, is being hosted by the Government of Pakistan under the auspices of the Ministry of Human Rights.

The conference, centred on the theme “Socio-Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in the OIC Countries: Challenges and Way Forward,” is expected to bring together ministers responsible for women's and family affairs, senior government officials, representatives of OIC institutions, international organisations and development partners.

The gathering will focus on identifying effective ways to strengthen women's social, economic and political participation across OIC member states.

Upon their arrival at Islamabad International Airport, the foreign delegates were received by Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik, Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights Saba Sadiq, Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice Farah Naz Akbar, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Human Rights, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other government institutions.

Hosting the conference reflects Pakistan's continued commitment to the principles and objectives of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and its determination to work closely with fellow member states to promote the rights, dignity and empowerment of women.

During the two-day event, Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar will formally take over as Chair of the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women on behalf of Pakistan.

In his role as chair, the minister will oversee the conference proceedings while collaborating with OIC member countries to encourage meaningful dialogue, strengthen consensus and advance joint efforts aimed at empowering women throughout the Muslim world.

Throughout the conference, delegates will participate in a series of high-level discussions to evaluate the progress made so far, exchange valuable experiences and successful practices, and explore practical solutions for further improving the socio-economic and political status of women across OIC member nations.

The Government of Pakistan, together with its people, has extended a warm welcome to all distinguished participants and expressed the hope that the conference will be fruitful and that every delegate enjoys a comfortable and pleasant stay in Islamabad.
