Pakistan takes centre stage in global diplomacy as Islamabad hosts crucial US-Iran talks

The Iranian delegation, led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, has arrived in the capital. On the American side, Vice President JD Vance is accompanied by senior figures including Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff.

Upon arrival at Nur Khan Airbase, the distinguished guests were warmly received by Pakistan’s top leadership, including Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Syed Asim Munir, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi-a reflection of the importance Islamabad attaches to this diplomatic mission.

Across Pakistan, citizens have expressed immense pride in what is being hailed as a landmark diplomatic achievement. Many have praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir for their leadership and vision, crediting their sustained efforts with transforming Pakistan from a period of diplomatic isolation into a platform for global engagement. US President Donald Trump has described the talks as the “most powerful reset” in the world, expressing full confidence in Islamabad’s hosting. Vice President JD Vance echoed this sentiment, stating that he has been given clear directives by President Trump and is optimistic about a successful outcome.

With unprecedented security arrangements and a focused diplomatic environment, Islamabad is being viewed as one of the safest venues for such high-stakes dialogue.
