COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,637 new infections, 23 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 319,431on Tuesday after another 550 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 346,476 after 1,637 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 150,834 cases were reported in Sindh, 107,329 in Punjab, 40,843 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 16,152 in Balochistan, 22,110 in Islamabad, 4,378 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 4,830 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 7,000 with 23 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, Punjab government has imposed smart lockdown in various localities of Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi after increase in the cases of COVID-19.

According to the notification issued by the Punjab government, the smart lockdown will remain in force till November 19 in the affected areas.

The notification further stated that all markets in these areas will remain open from 9am to 7pm.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 50.2 million and death toll tops 1.25 million.
