UN expresses deep concern over the deadly attack on a girls' school in Iran

New York (Web Desk): The United Nations (UN) has voiced grave concern over the recent assault on a girls’ school in Iran.

During a press briefing, Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, described the reported deaths of students as profoundly tragic and stressed that an independent inquiry into the attack is essential.

Dujarric condemned any assaults on civilians in the Middle East, noting that strikes on civilian infrastructure and the resulting mass displacement are particularly troubling.

He also warned that attacks targeting energy facilities are unacceptable, urging all parties to uphold international humanitarian law.

Highlighting the need to defuse tensions, the UN chief's spokesperson emphasized that diplomatic engagement remains critical to preventing further violence and protecting civilian lives.
