PM Shehbaz reaffirms Pakistan’s commitment to multilateralism, UN’s central role in global affairs

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to multilateralism, emphasizing the country's continued support for the United Nations (UN) as the leading platform for addressing global issues.

During a meeting with Macky Sall, who is contesting for the position of UN Secretary-General, the prime minister expressed hope that the organisation’s future leadership would uphold its mandate by giving equal importance to its three fundamental pillars—maintaining international peace and security, promoting sustainable development, and safeguarding human rights.

Welcoming Macky Sall, PM Shehbaz reiterated Pakistan’s enduring commitment to the principles and objectives outlined in the UN Charter.

He stressed that the need for the consistent implementation of United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and highlighted respect for international law and global agreements as essential elements for ensuring lasting peace, stability, and shared prosperity around the world.

Macky Sall, in response, acknowledged Pakistan’s longstanding and valuable contributions to the UN.

He also praised the country's leadership for its constructive engagement and meaningful role in supporting international initiatives aimed at fostering peace and resolving global challenges.
