Literary icon Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi remembered on death anniversary 

Lahore (Web Desk): The 20th death anniversary of eminent Urdu poet, author and literary icon Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi is being observed today (Friday) with tribute to his enduring contribution to Pakistan’s literary heritage.

He was born on November 20, 1916, in Anga, a village in Khushab district.

Qasmi went on to establish himself as one of the country's most respected literary personalities, leaving a lasting impact through his poetry, fiction, journalism and critical writings.

Apart from his literary pursuits, Qasmi also served as a scriptwriter for Radio Pakistan, where he contributed significantly to the country's broadcasting landscape.

During his prolific career, he produced nearly 50 books spanning poetry, fiction, journalism and the arts.

Equally accomplished in writing ghazals and nazms, his celebrated poetry collections include Jalal-o-Jamal, Shola-e-Gul and Kisht-e-Wafa.

His legacy in fiction is reflected in acclaimed short story collections including Chopaal, Sannata, Kapaas Ka Phool, Bagolay, Tal-o-Gharoob, Sailab-o-Gardab, Anchal and Ghar Se Ghar Tak, all of which continue to be admired by readers and scholars alike.

Qasmi’s remarkable services to literature earned him several prestigious honours, including the Pride of Performance, the Pakistan Academy of Letters Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Sitara-e-Imtiaz.

Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi passed away in Lahore on July 10, 2006, at the age of 89, leaving behind a timeless body of work that continues to shape and inspire generations of Urdu literature enthusiasts.
