Sindh govt announces to take responsibility for actress Humaira Asghar's burial

Karachi (Web Desk): Following the recovery of the body of well-known model and actress Humaira Asghar, and the refusal of her family to claim the remains, the Sindh government has decided to carry out her burial with full state support.

Sindh Minister for Culture, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, stated that Humaira Asghar is not "abandoned" — rather, the Sindh government considers itself her guardian and will ensure that she is laid to rest with dignity and respect.

According to sources, the minister expressed deep sorrow over the incident and contacted the Additional IG Karachi, requesting cooperation for the formal handover of the body. A letter has also been sent by the Secretary of Culture to the DIG South, asking that the body be transferred to the Culture Department following the completion of legal procedures.

The culture minister added that if Humaira’s parents or close relatives do not come forward to claim the body, the Department of Culture will oversee all funeral arrangements. For this purpose, the Director General of Culture has been appointed as the focal person to coordinate all necessary steps.

He further clarified that everything from the selection of the graveyard to the final rites will be handled under the supervision of the Sindh government. “No citizen will be left alone in their final journey — even if they are socially isolated,” the minister affirmed.
