Iran does not want war but will not compromise on its rights, says Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei

Tehran / Washington: While the United States President Donald Trump has expressed optimism about reaching a “successful agreement” with Iran, Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has made it clear that Tehran will not surrender its national rights under any form of pressure.

In his latest address responding to the remarks of the US president, the Iranian Supreme Leader presented a firm and unequivocal position, stating that although Iran does not seek war or escalation in the region, its desire for peace should not be interpreted as weakness.

He stated hat Iran will not step back even an inch from its legitimate rights, adding that negotiations can only take place on the basis of equality. He further insisted that Iran must receive full compensation for all financial and human losses it has suffered to date.

Despite President Trump’s description of the Iranian leadership as “reasonable,” Tehran has clarified that any new agreement would only be possible if all economic sanctions imposed on Iran are lifted immediately and permanently.

Iran has also demanded compensation for damages resulting from past violations of previous agreements, as well as formal recognition of its regional sovereignty and defensive rights.

Political observers note that the Iranian Supreme Leader’s remarks represent a significant challenge to President Trump’s expressed hopes for a breakthrough.

They add that although a temporary ceasefire has been maintained through Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, the latest statement from Tehran underscores that Iran is unlikely to sign any deal that it perceives as undermining its national dignity or strategic interests.
