PM Shehbaz likely to visit China this month: sources

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister is set to undertake a highly important official visit to China in the third week of May to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.

According to diplomatic sources, the prime minister is expected to stay in China from 23 to 25 May. The visit is being described as one of the most significant in recent years, aimed at elevating economic and defence cooperation between the two close allies.

During the trip, the Prime Minister will hold a one-on-one meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, along with delegation-level talks with Chinese Premier Li Qiang.

The discussions are expected to focus on accelerating the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and reviewing the regional security situation.

Sources further revealed that the Prime Minister will also participate in special events marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

On the occasion, several important agreements are expected to be signed, including memorandums of understanding (MoUs) related to cooperation in multiple sectors as well as the development of industrial zones and expansion of bilateral trade.

Diplomatic experts are terming the visit a major milestone in Pakistan-China strategic ties, expecting it to not only boost economic collaboration but also enhance coordination on key regional issues.
