Punjab govt deploys 5 women-only Speedo buses on Metro route in Lahore

Lahore (Web Desk): The Punjab Transport and Mass Transit Department has introduced five dedicated buses for women using the Lahore Metro Bus Service to provide a safer and more comfortable travel experience.

According to the department, five Speedo buses have been temporarily deployed on the Metro Bus route during peak hours to accommodate the growing number of female passengers and ensure safer commuting.

Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan said the initiative was launched on the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to protect women from harassment in crowded buses and provide them with a dignified and secure travel environment.

He added that the government plans to replace the temporary Speedo buses with newly purchased Metro buses that will be permanently reserved for women.

The minister said more initiatives would also be introduced to further improve the safety and comfort of female commuters.
