Beijing (Web Desk): China on Monday emphasized that all parties involved in the Syrian conflict should prioritize the fundamental interests of the Syrian people and work towards a political resolution to restore stability to the country as soon as possible.
In response to a question regarding the end of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad’s rule and the formation of a new government, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning stated that China is closely monitoring the situation in Syria.
She reiterated China's hope that all parties involved will act responsibly and swiftly to find a political solution that brings stability to the nation.
Mao also emphasized that the future of Syria should be determined by its own citizens.
She said that China expresses hope that all relevant parties, with a sense of responsibility towards Syria’s long-term interests, would expedite efforts to restore peace and order through political means.
