US journal exposes Afghan Taliban’s support for ‘Khawarij’, warns Afghanistan becoming terrorism hub

Washington / Islamabad (Web Desk): A recent report published by the American journal Eurasia Review has highlighted what it describes as a dangerous connection between the Afghan Taliban and the militant group Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), also referred to as “Fitna al-Khawarij”.

According to the report, the current Taliban administration in Afghanistan is allegedly providing safe havens to militant elements and allowing them to operate from Afghan territory.

The publication claims that this support and tolerance of militant groups pose a serious threat not only to neighboring countries but also to the stability of the wider region.

The report further suggests that an “undeclared understanding” exists between the Afghan Taliban and TTP. It claims that the Taliban leadership publicly denies the presence of TTP fighters in Afghanistan because acknowledging their presence could invite pressure from the international community to take decisive action against them.

According to the analysis, this situation has complicated regional security dynamics. Militants affiliated with TTP are believed to be using Afghan territory as a base for planning and launching attacks, particularly against targets in Pakistan.

The report comes at a time when Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns at international forums, stating that Afghan soil is being used for militant activities against the country.

Pakistani officials have urged the Taliban authorities to take effective measures to prevent such groups from operating inside Afghanistan.

By presenting these findings, the publication argues that Pakistan’s concerns are based on ground realities and that the Taliban authorities have yet to fully honor their commitments to ensure that Afghan territory is not used by militant groups against other countries.

Security analysts quoted in the report warn that the growth of militant networks in Afghanistan could have consequences beyond Pakistan.
