Kuala Lumpur (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has been honored with an honorary doctorate in Leadership and Governance by the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

The degree was conferred at a ceremony held in Kuala Lumpur, where the Queen of the Malaysian state of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah—who also serves as the constitutional head of IIUM—presented the distinction to the Prime Minister.

Speaking on the occasion, PM Shehbaz expressed deep gratitude, describing it as a privilege to be recognized by one of the leading institutions of the Muslim world. He voiced optimism that the academic and research linkages between IIUM and Pakistan’s top universities would continue to grow, promoting greater collaboration in higher education.

The prime minister noted that throughout his career, he had strived to serve people with honesty and devotion.

He emphasized that leadership, in Islamic tradition, is not a matter of status but a sacred responsibility, one that requires fairness, sincerity, transparency, and accountability before Allah Almighty.

Reflecting on the current state of the Muslim Ummah, Shehbaz Sharif underscored the need for unity and moral strength guided by Islamic values, urging Muslims to hold steadfast to their faith and ethics to regain their rightful place in the global community.

In her remarks, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah lauded the leadership and vision of Shehbaz Sharif, stating that true leadership is defined not by power but by the ability to serve humanity and uplift societies through education, healthcare, and opportunity.

She praised his initiative, the Punjab Education Endowment Fund, noting that it opened doors to higher education for thousands of deserving students who could not have otherwise pursued their dreams.

The Queen of Pahang said such initiatives reflect leadership that inspires and transforms lives. She added that Pakistan and Malaysia have long shared a brotherly relationship, which has grown even stronger under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
