LHC orders Punjab govt to take action against smoke-emitting vehicles

Lahore (Web Desk): The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed authorities to take action against vehicles emitting smoke.

During the hearing of the smog prevention case, Justice Shahid Karim remarked that dozens of vehicles releasing smoke can be seen on the roads. He instructed the relevant authorities to implement strict measures to control pollution in Punjab.

During the proceedings, the petitioner's lawyer informed the court about the cutting down of trees in Ghazib Market Park and the construction of tennis courts. Justice Shahid Karim questioned why and how trees could be cut down, stating that building paddle tennis courts in parks is not permissible.

Subsequently, the court ordered the halt of construction activities in Ghazib Market Park and directed the Director-General of the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to ensure compliance with the court's order.

Additionally, the Lahore High Court ordered action against smoke-emitting vehicles and adjourned the case until Monday.
