Spain’s prominent newspaper El País has stated that during the Pakistan–India war in May last year, Field Marshal Asim Munir was seen as a decisive and courageous military leader who emerged in a position of success.

The report further described him as a highly influential figure, noting that his involvement in the US–Iran ceasefire process holds notable strategic importance.

It also highlighted that in the ongoing Iran–United States negotiations, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir is the key mediator advancing the dialogue.

The report states that US President Donald Trump is believed to have expressed considerable admiration for Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir, reportedly characterising him as an outstanding and highly courageous figure in the military sphere.

According to El País, Syed Asim Munir is counted among a small number of global personalities who can engage effectively with both Washington and Tehran simultaneously.

The newspaper also observed that he demonstrates a strong understanding of complex regional and international dynamics, which strengthens his relevance in sensitive diplomatic and security matters.

Furthermore, defence and policy experts note that Pakistan’s top military leadership is gradually being acknowledged for its operational professionalism and for what is seen as a stabilising role in volatile regions, especially in the Middle East, where tensions often require careful management.
