NEPRA reduces electricity price by Rs1.88 per unit

Islamabad (Web Desk): The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has announced a notable decrease in electricity tariffs. According to the notification issued by NEPRA, the electricity price for DISCOs’ consumers has been reduced by Rs 1.88 per unit.

This reduction is part of the fuel cost adjustment for the quarter from April to June 2025 and will be effective from August to October 2025. The decision is expected to provide consumers with a total relief of approximately Rs 5.587 billion.

NEPRA’s statement clarified that the reduction will apply to all consumers of DISCOs and K-Electric; however, lifeline and prepaid consumers are excluded from this adjustment.

Meanwhile, the electricity distribution companies had requested a tariff reduction under the quarterly adjustment, which was heard on August 4. NEPRA has approved this request and forwarded it to the federal government for final approval.
