Islamabad (Web Desk): Today, the nation solemnly remembers the 14th anniversary of the Giyari Sector tragedy.

On this fateful day in 2012, a massive avalanche struck a Pakistan Army position at the Siachen Front, engulfing soldiers who were steadfastly guarding the country’s frontiers.

The Battalion Headquarters was entirely buried under snow, resulting in the loss of 129 brave soldiers—an episode that stands as one of the most heartrending chapters in Pakistan’s history.

The magnitude of the calamity was so immense that even foreign rescue teams declared the mission impossible.

Undaunted by the risks, the Pakistan Army Corps of Engineers courageously took on the rescue operation.

Through extraordinary perseverance and valor, the officers and soldiers completed the mission despite its extreme difficulty.

In memory of the martyrs of the Giyari tragedy, Yadgar-e-Shuhada was also constructed at the Siachen Front, serving as a lasting tribute to their sacrifice.

Today, the entire nation is paying tribute to the martyrs of the Giyari Sector tragedy. The great sacrifice of the martyrs of Giyari will always be remembered in the history of Pakistan.
