Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Security forces killed 21 more Khwarij belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna-Al-Khwarij in multiple engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the military’s media wing said on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services-Public Relations (ISPR), following the successful engagement by security forces on the night of August 31, September 1, along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan District, 10 more Khwarij holed up in the area were sent to hell.
This increased the total number of Khwarij attempting to infiltrate into Pakistan and effectively neutralized by security forces to 25.
In another encounter in North Waziristan District, movement of another group of Khwarij along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border was picked up by security forces.
“Own troops effectively engaged the group, and as a result of precise and skillful engagement, seven Khwarij were neutralized, the statement said.
Four more Khwarij were also effectively neutralized in two separate encounters in Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan Districts during joint operations.
The military’s media wing said that sanitization operations are being conducted to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored khwarij found in the area.
The ISPR said these repeated incidents along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border have once again vindicated Pakistan's persistent stance regarding the abject failure of the Afghan Taliban regime to deny the use of Afghan soil to the terrorist organization, under their patronage, for cross-border terrorism.
It said the Afghan Taliban regime has consistently failed to ensure effective border management and honour its international counter-terrorism obligations.
The Security Forces of Pakistan remain resolute and unwavering in their commitment to defend the nation's frontiers.
“The relentless counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of "Azm-e-Istehkam," will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” the ISPR said.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday commended the country’s security forces for successfully eliminating Khwarij militants during operations carried out in different parts of KP.
In their separate statements, the president and the premier appreciated the professional capabilities of the Security Forces in successfully foiling attempts by the Khwarij to infiltrate Pakistan along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
They also expressed satisfaction over their effective and timely response against the terrorists.
President Zardari praised the security forces for demonstrating their professional expertise by preventing attempts by Khawarij elements to cross into Pakistan from the Afghan border, according to a statement released by the President Secretariat Media Wing.
He also welcomed the swift and effective response of the forces against the terrorists, expressing satisfaction with the results of the operations.
The president reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to defeat the hostile plans of foreign-backed terrorist groups at every cost. He said safeguarding the country’s frontiers and bringing terrorism to an end remained among Pakistan’s highest priorities.
President Zardari again called upon Afghanistan’s interim authorities to take steps to ensure that their territory was not exploited for terrorist activities directed against Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif likewise praised the security forces for killing terrorists affiliated with the Indian-sponsored Fitna al-Khwarij in successful intelligence-based and counterterrorism operations conducted across several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said the nation had full confidence in and pride in the professionalism of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies, which had consistently frustrated attempts to damage peace and stability in the country.
The prime minister said the people of Pakistan remained united with the security forces and would continue to support them in their ongoing campaign against terrorism.
“Under the vision of ‘Azm-e-Istehkam,’ operations will continue with full resolve until the complete elimination of foreign-backed terrorism from Pakistan’s soil,” PM Office Media Wing, in a press release, quoted the prime minister as saying.
