Trump rebrands Department of Defense as “Department of War,” targets India with tariffs, issues EU warning

Washington (Web Desk): US President Donald Trump has signed a bold executive order officially changing the name of the Department of Defense to the “Department of War.” The decision has sparked global debate and stirred strong reactions from allies and critics alike.

Speaking to the media, Trump stated, “It’s time we call things what they truly are.” He asserted that the United States commands the world’s most powerful military and must eliminate any ambiguity in defending its national interests. “America doesn’t need to sugarcoat its strength,” he added.

Addressing the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, Trump remarked that bringing the war to an end is no simple task. He also expressed frustration over India’s continued import of Russian oil, revealing that the United States has imposed a 50% tariff increase on Indian goods in response.

Tensions with the European Union are also escalating. Trump issued a warning over the EU’s €2.95 billion antitrust fine on Google, calling it unfair. “The American people will not accept this kind of penalty on a U.S. company,” he said, hinting at possible retaliatory action.
