Gilgit (Web Desk): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has issued a special election message to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, urging them to support his party in the upcoming polls.
He said that the PPP has been continuously struggling for the constitutional rights and right to self-governance of the people of the region for the past three generations.
He appealed to voters to cast their ballots in favour of PPP candidates by marking the “arrow” symbol in the elections scheduled for June 7.
Highlighting the party’s past contributions, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto abolished the feudal Raj Shahi system and the oppressive Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR), while also introducing subsidies on food and essential commodities for the people of the region.
He further stated that former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto laid the foundation of political and democratic rights in Gilgit-Baltistan through the 1994 LFO.
The PPP chairman added that former President Asif Ali Zardari, through a historic presidential order, officially named the region “Gilgit-Baltistan” and granted it a distinct identity.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed confidence that the new generation will continue the journey towards rights, employment opportunities, and greater constitutional autonomy. He urged the people to vote for the “arrow” on June 7 for a brighter future.
