Islamabad (Web Desk): Pakistan and seven other Islamic countries strongly denounced Israel's ongoing military actions in the Gaza Strip, expressing grave concern over repeated attacks on hospitals, healthcare facilities, and other essential medical infrastructure.
According to Foreign Office (FO), the joint statement was issued by the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Egypt, Türkiye, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The ministers also condemned strikes on civilian infrastructure and the continued loss of innocent lives, particularly those of women and children, describing such actions as serious breaches of international law and international humanitarian law.
The statement said that the persistence of these actions represents a clear violation of Israel's legal obligations under international law, as well as the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict.
Emphasizing the need to safeguard civilians, the ministers said the protection of hospitals, medical personnel, and humanitarian workers is a legal responsibility that cannot be ignored.
They also stressed the urgent need to ensure the immediate, safe, and unhindered flow of humanitarian assistance, medical supplies, and relief aid to all parts of the Gaza Strip.
The ministers further stated that the situation in Gaza cannot be separated from what they described as escalating attacks by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank, the continued expansion of illegal settlements, and unilateral actions aimed at changing the status quo in occupied Jerusalem.
They said these measures reflect a systematic policy designed to impose new realities on the ground by force, weaken the prospects of the two-state solution, and deny the Palestinian people their legitimate rights in violation of international law and relevant United Nations (UN) resolutions.
Calling for international action, the ministers urged the global community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to adopt practical and effective measures that would ensure Israel complies with its obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law and UN Security Council Resolution 2803.
The ministers also demanded accountability for those responsible for serious violations, saying such steps are essential to protect civilians, support the implementation of existing agreements, and pave the way for a lasting ceasefire.
The joint statement also reaffirmed the ministers' firm rejection of any attempts to annex the Occupied Palestinian Territory, impose Israeli sovereignty over it, or forcibly remove the Palestinian people from their homeland.
Reiterating their commitment to a peaceful resolution, the ministers said that lasting and comprehensive peace can only be achieved through a genuine political process leading to the implementation of the two-state solution, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
