WhatsApp introduces new safety feature to protect users from suspicious groups

California (Web Desk): WhatsApp has launched a new safety feature called "Safety Overview" to help users avoid joining suspicious or unsafe groups.

With this feature, whenever someone who is not in your contact list adds you to a group, WhatsApp will provide you with detailed information about the group along with security tips.

The information includes when the group was created, the number of members, and who added you to the group. This allows users to make an informed decision about whether to stay in the group or leave immediately.

Additionally, notifications from the group will remain muted until the user decides to stay, preventing unnecessary disturbances.

Meta stated that this feature is part of its ongoing efforts to protect users from scams and fraud, similar to the feature that silences calls from unknown numbers.

So far, WhatsApp has banned approximately 680,000 accounts linked to various fraudulent networks, and this new feature will further enhance user safety.
