Punjab govt launches 'Clinics on Boats' in flood-hit areas

Lahore (Web Desk): The Punjab government, “Clinics on Boats” to provide medical care in the flood-hit areas of the province.

The initiative is aimed at ensuring timely and quality healthcare services for the affected population even in difficult circumstances.

Punjab’s health teams are actively working in the flood-affected districts, where special arrangements have been made for the treatment of women, children, and other vulnerable groups.

As per the Punjab government officials, so far, 968 “Clinics on Wheels” and medical relief camps have been established, providing round-the-clock healthcare facilities.

For affected women, sanitary kits, multivitamins, and other essential items are being distributed, while female doctors and trained staff are available to attend to expectant mothers. In case of emergencies, patients are shifted to nearby hospitals through the rural ambulance service under the “Maryam Nawaz Health Service.”

Children’s health has also been given special attention. Pediatricians are visiting the flood camps on a daily basis, and proper arrangements for newborn vaccination have been made.

To address common illnesses, medical staff have been deployed with adequate supplies of medicines, including ORS and antibiotics, to treat skin infections, insect bites, stomach ailments, cholera, and malaria. Screening and treatment facilities are also in place for children suffering from malnutrition.

Meanwhile, Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz personally visited the flood relief camps to review the facilities and directed the administration to ensure that no affected person is deprived of medical care.
