Punjab CM Maryam launches Green Bus Service in Rajanpur, questions KP’s governance claims

Rajanpur (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Wednesday said that the  the provincial government believes in performance rather than promises.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Green Bus service in Rajanpur, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz delivered a sharp critique of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government and its leadership, saying that a  “fake government” is one that deprives people of their rights instead of working for their progress.

She remarked that such administrations remain confined to claims and slogans while ordinary citizens continue to struggle for basic facilities.

Taking a pointed swipe at the KP government’s narrative of promoting “awareness” or “consciousness” among the public, she said that whenever people there demand their rights, they are told that they have already been given awareness.

She questioned whether awareness could replace bread, medicine, or employment, arguing that it cannot fill empty stomachs nor can children ride to school on awareness alone. According to her, people need tangible services and relief in their daily lives, not hollow rhetoric.

Referring to KP CM Sohail Afridi, Maryam Nawaz recounted an incident in which a young girl asked a question and was told in response that she must be affiliated with a political party.

She said this attitude reflects a system where ordinary workers are handed lectures about “awareness,” while a different standard is reserved for the ruling elite and their families.

The Punjab CM also launched direct criticism at the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), saying that while the children of party workers end up behind bars under the cover of political narratives, the leaders’ own children are comfortably settled in London.

She alleged that these leaders advise their children to stay away from Pakistan, warning them about harsh conditions, yet have no hesitation in allowing others’ children to face imprisonment and hardship.

Maryam Nawaz asserted that the Punjab government believes in performance rather than promises.

She described the launch of the Green Bus service in a far-flung district like Rajanpur as clear proof that her administration is focused on delivering real, practical facilities to people at their doorstep rather than relying on political slogans.
