Death anniversary of renowned playback singer Akhlaq Ahmed observed

Karachi (Web Desk): The 27th death anniversary of renowned Pakistani playback singer Akhlaq Ahmed is being observed today (Tuesday), with admirers remembering his enduring contribution to the country's film industry.

Born in Delhi in 1940, Akhlaq Ahmed moved to Pakistan with his family after the Partition in 1947 and later made Karachi his home.

He stepped into the world of playback singing in 1973 with the film Pazeb, beginning a career that established him as one of the leading voices of Pakistani cinema throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

His most celebrated performances include Sona Na Chandi Na Koi Mehal from Bandish, Sawan Aye Sawan Jaye from Chahat, Ay Dil Apna Dard Chhupa from Rishta, and Hum Ko Kis Ke Gham Ne Maara from Basera. These songs continue to be cherished by generations of music enthusiasts.

Between 1973 and 1998, Akhlaq Ahmed lent his voice to nearly 117 songs featured in 86 Pakistani films, leaving behind an impressive musical legacy that remains influential to this day.

The legendary singer passed away in London on this day in 1999, but his unforgettable melodies continue to keep his memory alive among fans and the country's music fraternity.
