Anti-Taliban resistance broadens with formation of new armed group

Kabul (Web Desk): Claims of an expanding armed resistance movement against the Taliban have emerged in Afghanistan, with new groups announcing their formation and opposition factions claiming responsibility for attacks targeting the Taliban.

In Faryab province, the establishment of a new armed group under the leadership of Gul Mohammad Pahlawan has been announced.

The development comes amid reports of growing activities by anti-Taliban factions seeking to challenge the current authorities through armed resistance.

Meanwhile, the Liberation Front has claimed responsibility for an attack carried out against the Taliban a day earlier.

The group has announced that it will soon reveal details of its organisational structure and future strategy.

Separately, General Sami Sadat, the head of the Afghanistan United Front, has also announced the launch of operations against the Taliban, stating that activities would be carried out from Kandahar.

Political observers and analysts say opposition to the Taliban has increased due to concerns over its governance policies, restrictions on civil liberties, human rights issues and particularly the continued ban on women’s education.

Afghan analyst Abdullah Jan Saber said dissatisfaction among sections of the public is growing because of the Taliban’s policies, restrictions on women’s rights and other social issues.

He noted that these factors have contributed to increasing criticism and the emergence of resistance movements against the Taliban administration.

The developments indicate renewed activity among anti-Taliban groups, although the extent, organisation and influence of these factions remain subjects of ongoing debate among analysts.
