California (Web Desk): YouTube has introduced a range of new features for Shorts, allowing users to create and share image-based content more easily as the platform continues to expand its short-form video experience.
According to reports, the latest update brings Shorts closer to platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. Users will now be able to create slideshow-style posts using up to 10 photos.
The new tools also allow creators to add text to images and include up to 15 seconds of background music, making it possible to produce engaging content without editing a full video.
YouTube said the update is designed to help users share photo stories directly in the Shorts feed, offering a simpler way to showcase memorable moments and visual content.
The image-post feature closely resembles similar formats already available on Instagram and TikTok, where photo-based posts have become increasingly popular.
Earlier this week, YouTube also announced several interface improvements for Shorts. Among them is a new Clear Screen mode, which hides on-screen icons and text to provide a more immersive, distraction-free viewing experience.
The platform is also introducing 2x playback speed, enabling users to watch Shorts at double speed.
In addition, YouTube is replacing the traditional thumbs-up icon with a heart icon for likes. The dislike button will also be removed and replaced with "Not Interested" and "Don't Recommend This Channel" options, giving users more relevant ways to personalize their viewing experience.
