Tarar rejects rigging allegations as PML-N secures majority in AJK polls

Islamabad (Web Desk): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has emerged as the dominant political force in the second phase of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections, securing enough seats to form a simple majority in the Assembly.

Speaking in a televised interview, Tarar said the party's electoral success was being questioned by opposition parties that were unwilling to acknowledge the outcome of the polls.

He stated that voters participated in large numbers and placed their trust in the PML-N because of its record in delivering development projects, serving the public, and maintaining strong governance. 
Tarar said that the party's performance played a key role in winning public confidence.

The minister observed that the election campaign remained highly active, with political parties engaging vigorously throughout the process.

While describing political competition and criticism as an essential part of democracy, he emphasised that differences should be handled with patience, restraint, and respect for one another.

Commenting on the statements made by Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, Tarar dismissed the allegations as unfounded and without merit.

He urged all political stakeholders to respect and accept the verdict delivered by the people in the AJK elections, adding that the PML-N leadership has consistently treated the progress and prosperity of Kashmir as one of its highest priorities.

Tarar also highlighted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had congratulated the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) after its electoral victory in Gilgit-Baltistan, saying the gesture reflected democratic values and set a constructive example for political conduct.
