Six police officials among 15 martyred in suicide blast near police station in KP's Swat

Swat (Web Desk): At least 15 people, including six police personnel, were martyred in a suicide blast outside Kabal Police Station in Swat on Sunday, according to officials from the local administration and police.

Malakand Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed said the attacker tried to enter the police station but was confronted by security personnel stationed at the entrance.

After failing to breach the premises, the bomber detonated the explosives at the main gate.

Swat District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Omar confirmed that the powerful explosion occurred near Kabal Chowk. He said investigators recovered a severed human head from the scene, which is believed to be that of the suspected suicide bomber.

The DIG further stated that a demonstration by local youth was taking place nearby when the blast occurred, contributing to the high number of casualties.

Earlier reports from officials had indicated that several people were injured in the explosion and warned that the death toll could increase.

The latest official figures have confirmed that 15 people were martyred in the attack.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have strongly condemned the suicide bombing in Swat's Kabal area, expressing profound grief over the tragic loss of innocent lives.

In separate statements, the president and the premier conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the martyrs to be granted the highest place in Jannah, asked Allah to bless the bereaved families with patience and strength, and wished a swift recovery for all those injured in the attack.

President Asif Ali Zardari expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives in the suicide attack and prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks and for patience for the bereaved families.

He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the blast and directed the concerned institutions to provide the best medical facilities to the injured.

The president reaffirmed that terrorist elements would never succeed in their attempts to weaken peace, national solidarity, or the authority of the state. He paid tribute to the sacrifices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and other law enforcement personnel, calling their courage and dedication a matter of pride for the entire nation.

He further ordered that the attack be thoroughly investigated and stressed that everyone involved in the act of terrorism must be identified and brought before the law.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed deep sorrow over the deadly suicide explosion in Kabal, Swat, which claimed several precious lives.

He offered his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the departed souls to attain the highest ranks in the hereafter while asking for patience and resilience for those left behind.

The prime minister also prayed for the quick recovery of the injured and instructed the concerned authorities to provide them with the best possible healthcare and medical facilities.

Reiterating the government's firm commitment to eliminating terrorism, PM said Pakistan's campaign against the menace would continue relentlessly until the country is completely rid of it.
