Punjab CM vows equal treatment for every city without discrimination

Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Thursday said that that safeguarding the dignity of the people of Punjab is her foremost responsibility and something on which she will never compromise.

Addressing a ceremony in Lahore held in honour of position-holders from educational boards, she said that those who attempt to divide the province into northern and southern regions are not true well-wishers of the people, stressing her determination to keep all cities of Punjab united like a closed fist.

Appreciating the achievements of the position holder students, she said they are the pride of Punjab and Pakistan, and that a nation with so many high achievers can never decline.

She pointed out that there are more than 50,000 schools across Punjab educating millions of children, but the gap in quality between public and private institutions remains wide.

Eliminating this disparity, she added, is among the top priorities of her government.

The Punjab CM said that around 80,000 students from Punjab are currently pursuing higher education on scholarships, with a special focus being placed on modern technology.

Plans are also under consideration to provide advanced laptops to students who demonstrate outstanding performance. 
Maryam Nawaz said she feels proud, both as a mother and as a leader, of the students’ accomplishments and paid tribute to the parents whose efforts made those successes possible.

She emphasized that reforms in the education sector have eradicated favouritism and malpractice, and that merit is always given precedence.

The Punjab CM noted that examination centres have been secured against unfair practices, and that she personally interviews candidates for key appointments to ensure merit-based selections.

She highlighted the school meal initiative under which one million children are being provided milk daily to improve nutrition and growth.

The Punjab CM also announced the establishment of 6,000 state-of-the-art laboratories across Punjab, where students will be able to learn robotics, coding, and artificial intelligence.

Focusing on women’s empowerment, the chief minister pointed out that female participation is being expanded and, for the first time, Lahore has a woman commissioner.

She appealed to parents and society not to place obstacles in the way of girls’ education and progress.
On the issue of security, the Punjab CM noted that several cities have reported no crimes for weeks, while cases of harassment against women are dealt with swiftly.

She added that teachers are now recruited strictly on merit and subject specialists are being appointed in every school to raise the standard of education.

Maryam Nawaz reiterated her commitment to bringing government schools up to the same standard as private institutions so that every child can receive quality education.

Alongside educational reforms, she said construction of 90,000 houses is underway across Punjab, and electric buses have been introduced in smaller cities to provide citizens with safe and accessible travel facilities.

The Punjab CM urged the public to remain cautious of fake news and propaganda, warning that those who incite violence and destruction, such as during the events of May 9, are enemies of the people.

She further clarified that Punjab’s resources belong to the entire country, just as every province’s resources are shared equally, and dismissed any notion of provincial discrimination.

CM Maryam concluded that the position she holds is the result of public trust and the prayers of parents, and reaffirmed her unwavering resolve to serve the people of Punjab with dedication.
