Lahore (Web Desk): The 40th death anniversary of legendary Pakistani comedian and actor Rafi Khawar, popularly known as ‘Nanha’, is being observed today (Tuesday), with admirers paying tribute to his lasting contributions to the country's entertainment industry.
Born in 1942 in Sahiwal, Punjab, Rafi Khawar stepped into the world of acting in 1966 through the Urdu film Watan Ka Sipahi.
His talent and distinctive comic style soon earned him recognition, paving the way for a successful career in both television and cinema.
During the 1970s and 1980s, Nanha emerged as one of Pakistan’s most popular performers. He won the hearts of viewers with his remarkable role in the iconic television serial Alif Noon, where he starred alongside Kamal Ahmed Rizvi, famously known as Allan.
The show’s immense popularity helped establish Nanha as a household name across the country.
Celebrated for his natural wit, expressive performances and flawless comedic delivery, he appeared in numerous acclaimed films, including Naukar Wohti Da, Dil Aur Duniya and Sargent. His outstanding work earned him widespread appreciation from audiences and critics alike.
In recognition of his achievements, Rafi Khawar received two prestigious Nigar Awards, winning Best Supporting Actor in 1977 and Best Comedian in 1983.
The celebrsted artist passed away in Lahore on this day in 1986, but his unforgettable performances and enduring legacy continue to entertain and inspire generations of Pakistanis.
