Legendary comedian Nanha remembered on death anniversary

Lahore (Web Desk): The 39th death anniversary of renowned Pakistani comedian and actor Rafi Khawar, popularly known as Nanha, is being observed today (Monday).

Born in 1942 in Sahiwal, Punjab, Nanha became a beloved figure in the entertainment industry during the 1970s and 1980s, winning hearts with his distinctive comic style and heartfelt performances.

He gained immense popularity through the iconic television series Alif Noon, where he starred alongside Kamal Ahmed Rizvi, who played the character Allan. Their duo became a staple of Pakistani television, with Nanha’s innocent charm and expressive face making him an instant favorite among viewers of all ages.

Nanha’s career spanned both television and cinema, with memorable roles in numerous films such as Naukar Wohti Da, Dil Aur Duniya, and Sargent.

His impeccable timing and ability to portray humor with simplicity earned him widespread acclaim.

Over the years, he was honoured with two Nigar Awards—Best Supporting Actor in 1977 and Best Comedian in 1983—recognizing his significant contributions to the Pakistani film industry.
Nanha died in Lahore on June 2, 1986, in Lahore.

Even decades after his passing, Nanha’s work continues to resonate with audiences, and he remains one of Pakistan’s most treasured comic actors.
