Govt institutional reforms to lead Pakistan toward stable global economy: PM Shehbaz 

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday reaffirmed his government’s commitment to transforming Pakistan into a stable global economy through sustainable institutional reforms.

Chairing a review meeting regarding the affairs of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the prime minister issued directives to engage internationally renowned firms for third-party validation of the reform initiatives currently underway in the FBR.

He expressed confidence that institutional reforms were advancing swiftly across various sectors, and stated that all government bodies were working diligently to root out corruption and address transparency-related issues.

Highlighting recent improvements in economic indicators, the prime minister attributed these positive trends to the sound policies of the government.

Shehbaz Sharif also expressed satisfaction with the performance of the newly implemented faceless customs assessment system, noting that such reforms were helping to uphold transparency within the system.

According to the briefing provided in the meeting, this system has contributed to increased revenue generation and significantly reduced the time required for customs clearance.

The meeting also reviewed the progress in reforming Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL), with officials reporting that the process was advancing rapidly.

The prime minister was informed that a simplified digital tax return system is in the pipeline, which will soon be launched to serve the general public.

Additionally, efforts are ongoing to introduce this system in Urdu and other local languages to ensure ease of access for ordinary citizens.

The meeting was attended by Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, the FBR Chairman, and senior officials from the concerned departments.

PM Shehbaz concluded the meeting by expressing his determination to achieve economic stability for Pakistan, stating, “God willing, we will succeed in our struggle to make Pakistan economically stable.”
