Lahore (Web Desk): Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken notice of the roof collapse incident in Lahore's Baghbanpura area, expressing deep sorrow over the death of a child in the tragedy.
The chief minister directed the Lahore commissioner and the director general of Rescue 1122 to submit an immediate report on the incident. She also praised Rescue 1122 teams for successfully rescuing more than 10 children trapped under the rubble.
Maryam Nawaz ordered authorities to ensure the injured children and other victims receive the best possible medical treatment without delay.
She further directed that strict legal action be taken against those found responsible if negligence or substandard construction is established during the investigation.
The chief minister also announced that all schools located in densely populated areas of Punjab will undergo an immediate safety audit to assess the condition of their buildings.
She stressed that even the slightest delay in rescue operations during emergencies would not be tolerated.
