Google maps introduces AI feature for pedestrians, cyclists

California (Web Desk): Google has introduced a powerful new artificial intelligence (AI) feature in its popular navigation service, Google Maps, which will be useful not only for drivers but also for pedestrians and cyclists.

This feature, called "Gemini for Maps," was first introduced in November 2025 with the goal of providing hands-free navigation for users while driving. Now, Google has enhanced it and made it available for pedestrians and cyclists as well.

With this new feature, you will now receive immediate hands-free responses via Google Maps while walking or cycling in any area. By simply saying "Okay Google," you can ask your questions and get directions, nearby locations, or other essential information through Gemini.

Google has announced that this feature will be available worldwide and can be used on both Android and iOS devices. However, it will not be available on the web version.

Another interesting aspect of Gemini for Maps is that you can send texts through it, but this will only be possible when you grant permission. According to Google, this new feature will be available to users worldwide in the coming weeks.
