Security forces neutralize 7 terrorists in separate KP IBOs: ISPR

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): In a series of intelligence-based operations (IBOs) conducted by security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, seven terrorists, including members of the banned militant group Khawarij, were killed. The operations, which took place in two distinct regions of the province, have been described as significant victories for the ongoing counter-terrorism efforts in the area.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the first operation took place in Mir Ali, a key area in North Waziristan, which has long been a hotspot for militant activity. Security forces, acting on actionable intelligence, launched an assault in the region targeting a group of terrorists. During the operation, six militants were successfully neutralized.

In a separate but related operation in the Spinwam area, also located in North Waziristan, one more terrorist was killed. This operation was part of a broader effort to clear the area of terrorist elements and disrupt their ability to operate in the region.

Both operations were carried out with precision, as forces swiftly secured the areas and conducted comprehensive search operations to ensure no militants remained in the vicinity. During these search operations, significant quantities of weapons and ammunition were recovered, including firearms, explosives, and other military-grade equipment.

The ongoing crackdown is seen as part of Pakistan’s larger counter-terrorism strategy aimed at eliminating remaining militant pockets in the tribal regions, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and North Waziristan. Security forces have been actively engaged in targeted operations against terrorist groups, with increasing success in recent months.

The Pakistani military has vowed to continue these efforts to ensure peace and stability in the region, with the ISPR emphasizing that such operations are vital in preventing militants from regrouping and launching further attacks. The identification of the killed terrorists as Khawarij—a term used for militants affiliated with radical, non-state groups—indicates that the targets were highly dangerous and involved in anti-state activities.

These operations are part of Pakistan's broader commitment to the National Action Plan (NAP) against terrorism and extremism.
