PM Shehbaz directs coordinated plan to ease impact of global price surge on Pakistan

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called on the relevant authorities to craft a well-rounded medium- and long-term roadmap to address the economic and financial challenges stemming from rising prices in international markets.

While presiding over a meeting in the federal capital on Wednesday, the prime minister reviewed measures aimed at protecting citizens from the financial strain caused by the current regional environment.

He highlighted the importance of strong collaboration among all concerned ministries and institutions to ensure that the proposed strategy supports economic resilience and growth across various sectors.

PM Shehbaz asked officials to come forward with concrete recommendations to limit the burden of escalating production costs on exports as well as overall national output, particularly in view of changing global dynamics.

Stressing resource optimization, he also urged that every available opportunity be utilized to shield agricultural and industrial sectors from negative impacts.

The prime minister pointed out that numerous countries are facing challenges in maintaining a balance between supply and demand of essential commodities under prevailing global conditions.

Despite these pressures, he expressed confidence that Pakistan has been responding effectively through timely and well-coordinated actions.

PM Shehbaz appreciated the performance of relevant institutions for adopting preventive measures that have helped avert any crisis related to the availability of essential goods.

He further noted that efforts are in progress to finalize a comprehensive plan to expand exports of surplus food items after meeting domestic needs.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the premier stated that all possible steps would continue to be taken to ensure economic stability, sustained progress, and the welfare of the people.

PM Shehbaz also acknowledged the joint efforts of stakeholders in managing economic and financial challenges and emphasized the need to further strengthen coordination among institutions.

During the briefing, participants were informed that all concerned ministries and organizations are closely tracking the economic impact of the evolving situation on a daily basis.
