High-level meeting reviews regional, internal security situation

Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Monday to review the regional and Pakistan’s security situation.

The meeting took a detailed review of the prevailing regional environment and overall security dynamics in the region.

Pakistan’s engagement and initiatives aimed at advancing peace and maintaining stability in the region also came under discussion.

Developments in Afghanistan were examined thoroughly during the session.

The participants of the meeting were additionally given a comprehensive briefing on the country’s domestic security conditions, including the strategies and mechanisms established to uphold law and order.

Following the prime minister’s directions, the forum reviewed arrangements concerning the evacuation of Pakistani nationals from Iran.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) presented a detailed account of the measures being taken to facilitate their safe repatriation. It was conveyed that the evacuation process is being carried out through Azerbaijan.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Mohsin Naqvi, Azam Nazeer Tarar, Ahad Khan Cheema, Attaullah Tarar, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi, as well as senior civilian and military representatives.
