Islamabad (Web Desk): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited the National Emergency Operation Center where he received a detailed briefing from the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on preparedness measures for the upcoming monsoon season and potential flood situations.
During the visit, the Chairman of NDMA highlighted the authority’s current strategy, early warning systems, and real-time dissemination of information to the public.
Referring to the devastating floods of 2022, Prime Minister Shehbaz noted that vast areas of agricultural land and thousands of homes were destroyed. He emphasized the need to learn from past disasters and ensure proactive and future-ready disaster response planning.
The prime minister lauded NDMA as a multi-dimensional national institution and stated that it is being equipped with modern technologies to enhance its efficiency and responsiveness. He also stressed the importance of public-private partnerships and infrastructure planning in light of the growing challenges posed by climate change.
Prime Minister Shehbaz concluded by underscoring the need for timely interventions and effective policy-making to mitigate the impact of natural disasters.
