New Year: CJP Afridi pledges judiciary's continued commitment to fair and accessible justice

Islamabad (Web Desk): The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi, has reaffirmed the judiciary’s unwavering dedication to protecting fundamental rights, upholding the rule of law, and delivering justice fairly, impartially, and without unnecessary delay.

In his New Year message, the CJP extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Pakistan, members of the legal community, fellow judges, and everyone who turns to the courts for guidance and reassurance.

He underscored that the Constitution entrusts the judiciary with the vital duty of ensuring that justice is not only carried out but is also visibly done—a responsibility that gains deeper meaning when viewed through the lens of ordinary citizens who come to the courts with hope, trust, and vulnerability.

Justice Afridi highlighted the importance of a justice system that puts citizens first. He called on the judiciary to use the coming year for reflection, reform, and renewed commitment to serving the public effectively.

Stressing that justice should be more than a principle on paper, he said it must be practically accessible, dignified in procedure, and responsive to the needs of women, children, marginalized groups, and residents of remote or underserved areas.

Outlining the judiciary’s priorities for the year ahead, he said efforts would focus on meaningful reforms aimed at making justice more accessible, reducing delays, improving transparency, and leveraging technology responsibly to enhance efficiency.

The CJP added that these measures would prioritize what matters most to people: timely rulings, clear and understandable procedures, and courts that are approachable, fair, and humane.

Expressing confidence in the institution, Justice Afridi said that through professionalism, integrity, and collective dedication, the judiciary would continue to strengthen public trust and uphold the ideals embedded in the Constitution.

He reaffirmed the judiciary’s commitment to serving every citizen with fairness, independence, and compassion, expressing hope that the New Year would bring renewed faith in a justice system that reaches every corner of the country.
