PM Imran tells Pakistan cricket team to give 100 percent fight to last ball

Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Prime Minister Imran Khan has asked the national cricket team to give their hundred percent and fight to the last ball.

“My advice to the Pakistan team today is what I would tell my players before a match: Give your 100 percent, fight to the last ball and never let the fear of losing enter your mind, influence your strategy or play. Pakistan’s prayers and support are with Sarfaraz and the team,” the PM said in a tweet.

Earlier, West Indian fast bowler Oshane Thomas with his phenomenal 4-27 spell scripted a shambolic collapse of Pakistan batting line up as he played a vital role in sending the Champions Trophy winner packing on 105.

West Indies won the toss and elected to field first against Pakistan.

The Sarfraz men played only 21.4 overs of the innings as Jason Holder picked three wickets, Andre Russel took two and Sheldon Cottrell bagged one wicket.

This is Pakistan’s second-lowest score in the World Cup. The team’s lowest score is 74 all out against England in 1992. Interestingly, this is also Pakistan lowest against the West Indies in all world cup matches – Previous was 160 in 2015.

Pakistan have included Haris Sohail in the 11-member squad, while Asif Ali has been left out.
