Renowned actor Sardar Kamal passes away

Lahore (Web Desk): Famous stage, television and film actor Sardar Kamal passed away at the age of 52 in Lahore on Tuesday night.

He suffered a heart attack and he was taken to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) but he could not survive.

He would be laid to rest in his native city of Faisalabad.

Muhammad Sardar, known as Sardar Kamal, was born in Faisalabad. He did not get a formal education beyond early school level. He worked in a textile factory in his early life before shifting to stand-up comedy.

Kamal started his career as an actor in theatre. His famous theatre plays included Janam Janam Ki Maili Chadar.

He also acted in Punjabi movies like 'Choorian', 'Majajan' and 'Channa Sachi Muchi' besides Urdu movie like 'Diwane Tere Pyar Kay'.

Sardar Kamal also worked in Pak-India co-productions.

Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar expressed grief and sorrow over the death of senior actor and comedian Sardar Kamal.

In a statement, he said that the death of Sardar Kamal has deprived Pakistan's showbiz industry of a great artist.

He said Sardar Kamal was such an artist who always brought smiles to the faces of others.

Tarar said that Sardar Kamal’s services for the industry will always be remembered.
Condoling with the bereaved family, the information minister prayed for the departed soul.
