Lahore/Karachi (Staff Report): The processions of 9th Muharram, to pay homage to the martyrs of Karbala and especially Imam Hussain (R.A), ended peacefully across the country.
In Karachi, the main procession was taken out from Nishtar Park, while in Lahore the procession began from Pando Street.
The yearly processions are being taken out today from Quetta, Rawalpindi and Peshawar. The main procession in Islamabad started from Asna Ashri Bargah.
In Lahore, Parachinar, and Thar, mourners donated blood to commemorate the great sacrifices given in the Karbala tragedy.
To beef up the security, the mobile and internet services have been suspended in scattered parts of the country.
A notification by the Home Department of Sindh stated that cellular services would remain suspended across several cities of Sindh which included Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Khaipur, Larkana, Shikarpur and Jacobabad.
A three-day ban on pillion-riding has been enforced in Peshawar and Quetta whereas the metro service will remain suspended in Islamabad and Rawalpindi today (Saturday) and on the 10th of Muharram.
The 10th of Muharram, Youm-e-Ashur, will be observed with great reverence on Sunday.
