SM Tanveer calls for long-term policies aimed at sustainable development

Lahore (Web Desk): SM Tanveer, Patron-in-Chief of United Business Group (UBG)and leader of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) has urged the government to adopt long-term policies aimed at sustainable national development.

Addressing a press conference alongside senior FPCCI leader, he highlighted the business community’s perspective on the country’s current economic and political landscape.

SM Tanveer emphasized that the government is not making wrong decisions, but insisted that stakeholders should always be consulted before any major policy is implemented, enabling them to provide informed guidance.

He urged the authorities to adopt long-term policies aimed at sustainable national development and specifically demanded the immediate reversal of the decision to close markets at 10 pm.

Highlighting Pakistan’s growing stature on the global stage, Tanveer praised the government and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their unprecedented handling of challenging situations.

The UBG patron-in-chief said that timely decisions by the Prime Minister have enhanced Pakistan’s international image, attracting global leaders to visit the country.

He also revealed that despite rising international oil prices, Pakistan continues to receive uninterrupted fuel supplies.

Tanveer particularly noted the safe passage of Pakistani-flagged vessels through the Strait of Hormuz as a significant diplomatic and strategic achievement

Responding to allegations against traders, he firmly stated that if businessmen were corrupt, the country’s tax revenue would never have doubled.

The UBG chief stressed that this is a critical time for establishing new industries and expanding businesses, as Pakistan’s progress is closely tied to economic growth.

“We live and breathe in this country, therefore, we stand united with the government for Pakistan’s betterment,” SM Tanveer asserted.
