Islamabad (Web Desk): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday said that Pakistan will never come out of its economic crisis if judicial reforms are not undertaken.
Taking to Twitter, the minister questioned the Sindh High Court's (SHC) verdict banning TikTok across Pakistan till July 8 and Islamabad High Court's verdict regarding removal of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) president.
"I'm baffled after reading yesterday's verdicts on suspension of TikTok and the removal of the NBP president, and can't help but wonder: what are our courts doing?" Chaudhry wrote.
The information minister said that Pakistan, already, was suffering from losses worth billions of dollars due to "judicial activism".
This is not the first time the minister has criticised the court's verdict, especially those concerning digital apps in Pakistan.
In February, the minister had said judicial activism in the past set back Pakistan's technological progress.
Chaudhry wrote that Pakistan would never be able to come out of an economic crisis unless judicial reforms were implemented.
On Monday, the SHC ordered the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to suspend access to TikTok in Pakistan till July 8 over immoral, objectionable content.
Meanwhile, the IHC on Tuesday ordered the removal of National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) President Arif Usmani and the bank's Chairman Board of Directors (BoD) Zubair Soomro with immediate effect.
