At least 13 injured in grenade attack on police vehicle in Balochistan's Dera Murad Jamali

Balochistan (Web Desk): At least 13 people, including two police personnel, were injured in a hand grenade attack on a police mobile van in Dera Murad Jamali, Balochistan. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ghulam Sarwar Bhayo, unidentified assailants hurled a grenade at a police vehicle that was on routine patrol near Shah Petrol Pump. The explosion injured 13 people, including police constables, women, and children.

The injured were identified as police officials Shamsuddin and Abdul Rasheed Junejo, along with Gul Babo, Mahad, Syed Khan, Nazir Solangi, Ahmed, Barkat Abro, Muhammad Nawaz Bhangar, Muhammad Ishaq Mengal, and Imam Bakhsh.

Following the attack, a heavy contingent of police rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Authorities have launched an investigation and a search operation to find those responsible.

In a separate incident, unidentified armed men attacked the Jaffar Express in Dera Murad Jamali, firing multiple shots and launching four rockets at the passenger train. However, security forces responded quickly, foiling the assault and forcing the attackers to flee.

While several train compartments were damaged, no casualties were reported. The train was halted at the Dera Murad Jamali Railway Station, and security personnel launched a large-scale search operation to apprehend the attackers.

Railway authorities confirmed the situation was brought under control, and security was tightened along the route.

The Jaffar Express has been a target of multiple attacks in recent months. Earlier this year, the train was briefly hijacked in the mountainous Bolan Valley, and in September of the previous year, it was targeted near Quetta Railway Station.

Last month, an explosion on the tracks in the Dasht area of Mastung district injured several passengers. The blast, caused by an improvised explosive device, derailed multiple bogies and severely damaged the track, leading to a suspension of train services in the area.

Earlier this year, in March, terrorists hijacked the Jaffar Express, killing 21 passengers before being neutralized by security forces during a clearance operation. The attackers had detonated explosives on the tracks and in tunnels, halting the train in the mountainous Sibi district.

The military later confirmed that all 33 terrorists were killed in the operation, and four Frontier Corps personnel were martyred. The attackers were reportedly in contact with handlers in Afghanistan, and the militants used hostages as human shields during the attack.

Security forces have vowed to continue their efforts to bring those responsible for these attacks to justice. The recent incidents highlight the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan and the threat posed to both civilian and military targets in the region.
